Two Dimensional Drawing

We were introduced to Two Dimensional Drawing in this class. After the brief, we were asked to draw the plan, elevation, 2D Block and 3D Block of basic forms. Besides that, we were required to trace the Two Dimensional Drawing on the tracing paper after we sketch it on the cartridge paper. Below is the drawing of Two Dimensional Drawing.

Orthographic ProjectionOrthographic drawings usually consist of a front view, a side view and a plan, but more views may be shown for complex objects with lots of detail. A drawing board and parallel motion or T-square is used to project one view from another.
Orthographic drawing may be done using first angle projection or third angle projection.
During the class, we were given three cube of shapes such as N, F and X to choose from by picking up a lucky draw. I  got the cube with the shape N. We were asked to take picture of the particular cube of shape, sketch it in our visual diary and measure the measurements of the cube of shapes before we started drawing on our cartridge paper.

Besides that, we are also required to sketch out another Orthographic Projection based on the object we found. Here is what I come out with.

After we have learnt the basic Orthographic Projections, we moved on to the Orthographic Projections - Plan, Elevation and Section of a house. Below are some of the examples.

Colour Scheme + Rendering

It's the watercoloring day as we all are asked to brought watercolour and brushes to class. Before we start the class, everyone was distributed a copy of magazine. We were asked to get one of our favourite picture in the magazine and render it out on a piece of A3 size cartridge paper. I have set my eyes on this furniture store called Gravel & Gold so I drew it out. After I finished drawing, we were then asked to explore on the different color scheme of watercolour and rendering the picture we have drawn using the watercolour.

After we are done with the first task, we were given a sample of three drawing paper. We have to pick one of our favourite piece of drawings after we done watercoloring it. That's my pick at the below.

Expression in Sketching

Interior Physical Components
During this assignment, we were asked to get pictures of physical components such as chair, table, upholstered seating and storage from magazine or internet. Then, we will have to paste the pictures in our visual diary and sketch it out. Below are some of the sketches I have drawn.

Human Figure
We were also asked to sketch out human figure based on how we desire our human figure to be but it has to be simple and not something fancy. Below are a few human figure I have sketch out according to the human eyes level and ground level.

After that, we are required to add the Interior Physical Components and Human Figure into a space given by our lectures. Below is the drawing.

Sketching - Live Drawings

Sketching tiny details of a close up object can be pretty hectic but I guess we have no luck in this as we are required to sketch a close up object as details as possible. To make it worst, we were only given a few selection to be choose from. For examples, leaf, watch, shoe, bugs or car. I am pretty bad at rendering objects so I have fear about this assignment. As my previous assignments about rendering, I got like the lowest mark and I have to re-draw and re-submit to my lecture. It scared the hell out of me, but I decided to took the challenge since I was given no choice. So, I decided to choose the least challenging one which is dried leaf as my object. I have a picture of exactly how the shape of dried leaf would be in my mind and I search for a few examples from the internet for references. In the end, this is what I come out with an I am pretty happy with it.

Sketch Note

We were introduced to Sketch Note on our third lesson. Accordingly, Sketch Note is a type of visual note by making your notes more interesting rather than words. It doesn't matter whether you doodling or simply just scribbling it, by adding some fun facts inside your notes.
Firstly. we were asked to sketch out five basic element.
Five Basic Elements and their Examples
Then, our lectures asked us to sketch out a few things based on what she said.
Figure 1: Keep Quiet
Figure 2 & 3: Fast Foods and Beverages
After that, we were asked to sketch out a human figure we have in mind with our own styles. I totally have no idea of how a human figure should be so I just randomly draw out a human stick like figure as my human figure. Besides that, we are also asked to sketch out some of the actions did by our human figure such as running, walking, jumping and sitting. Below are the human figure and the actions I have drawn.

We were then asked to sketch using the six fundamentals of visual notes taking.
(i)   Letters
(ii)  Bullets
(iii) Frames
(iv) Connectors
(v)  Shadows
(vi) Peps

Besides that, we are also required to sketch out a Sketch Note of a movie we like in a A3 cartridge paper as our assignment. Since that I also love to watch Flintstones, I decided to make a Sketch Note about it. Here are the Sketch Note of Flintstones.

Expression in Sketching

During the second lesson of Design Communication, we were given our first assignment. We were asked to take pictures of six random objects we can found in any styles of arrangement we like it to be. After that, we are asked to sketch the objects out based on the pictures we took using the basic types of rendering techniques we have learnt in class. One of the hardest part of this drawing is that we are not allowed to draw the outline of the objects and we have to trace out the shapes by free hand and using the combination rendering techniques we have learnt. Below is the drawing I have drawn.

The Tonal Value

During the second lesson, we are given the tutorial about pencil shading which is called "Tonal Values. It is a drawing technique that can be used to create a strong sense of space and form. It can be created by using either pencil or color pencil drawings.
We were asked to explore on different grade of pencils from lighter grade pencils such as H, HB,F, B to darker grader pencils such as 2B to 8B. I start by shading the area I wish to be light and gradually use a darker shade pencils to shade the darker area until I achieve the variation and intensity of tone I desire.
Besides that, we are required to sketch the tonal values by using different rendering techniques such as Hatching, Cross- Hatching, Scribbling and Stippling we had learnt. Below are some of the works I have done.

The Basic Form

Circle, Square, Rectangle, Triangle and Ovals are the basic shapes that will aid you in drawing objects more accurately. This technique can be used when drawing a landscape, or practically any other object or subject you wish to draw. As most paintings can be broken down into basic shapes.
Below are some of the basic shapes we are asked to sketch in class.
Basic Shapes and Forms
Cube to Pyramid
Cube to Cylinder
Cube to Sphere
Cube to Cone
Other than that, you can use basic shapes to define your drawing by adding in dimensions. For example, cubes, cones, sphere and etc.

Here are some of the methods I learnt to render out an object.
1. Look at the object you want to draw and determine the basic shapes that are needed to render the object.
2. Then, start by roughly locating where you want to place your object on the paper.
3. Draw in the basic shapes by monitor the object you are rendering.
4. Select the lines you want in your final drawing and draw out the complete shapes.
5. Use a darker shade pencil to trace the outline of the object.
6. Round off the shapes and blend the forms into each other.
Besides that, we are required to draw several objects based on the basic forms given.
